It was the first nice weekend of the year and after a long winter this Nield family was getting a touch of cabin fever, so it was agreed that camping would be our cure. We had never camped in Utah before (with the exception of mom who lived here as a child) and the weather isn't quite perfect yet so dad thought Capitol Reef might be the way to go... He was right! We had one of our best camping trips ever. It was so beautiful and we had so much fun I can't put it into words. (Hence all the pictures)
I think the pictures say a million words however there are probably a couple that need explained. The deer were at out campsite and in the early morn and late eve. They would let us get pretty close, but Jocelyn was still upset that they wouldn't let her pet them.
The scary face was was all natural. Dad found it.
Can you see him between the two giant rocks? You geezers might have to click on the pic to see him.
And yes that's snow. For our trip the weather sat in the 70's, but when we took the scenic route around the waterpocket (look up the geography. it's amazing!) there was a peak that nearly reached 10,000 feet.
Oh, and yes, those are real cowboys. We were in po-dunk and had to stop because there in the middle of the dirt road was a whole herd of cattle and their cowboys. That picture was taken out the sunroof.
We had an amazing time and can't wait to do it again. There are so many places here to go. We are already making camping plans for two weeks out (nowhere special), June I think it will be Moab and Arches, and big plans for Powell and the 4th.
We would love to make summer plans with everybody, but for those of you in town call us sometime. We make fun no matter where we go!
